Managerial Communication

Managerial Communication

If you feel really sorry for yourself and you want to resign soon because all of those people near your cubicle already got promoted and your boss isn’t giving you any sign that you’ll be too anytime soon, this article is for you. Well, you’re not “stupid” nor are you incredibly untalented. Trust us, there’s a reason. Promotion is not about being clingy and ultra friendly to your boss. It’s all about your boss trusting you that you’ll be able to handle more difficult and complex tasks. Now, think about your current status as an employee. Have you been congratulated by your boss for a good work recently? Does he treat you more like an office friend (but not that he would laugh and snort with you for funny stories or start gossiping with you) than a subordinate during lunch breaks? If no is your answer to these questions, it’s not really surprising that you’ll be staying as a “regular” employee for some more years.

But we’re not trying to encourage you to write that resignation letter ASAP. What we’re trying to do is to inspire you to work more vibrantly and energetically, so you’ll be able to ace that promotion much sooner (even though your boss isn’t really happy about your recent performance as his employee). Start with your co-workers. Even if you feel jealous (well, we understand that you’re not hulk-hard enough to not feel bad about their taunts), maintain a professional working relationship with them. You know, communication is important in a working environment like an office and your boss maybe, is just waiting for you to do something to develop good communication with your co-workers. Who knows? He might be seeing a great potential in you and promote you immediately as a manager. Being a manager, as you know, is all about organization and communication. Maybe he’s just waiting for you to understand what managerial communication is through self-learning.
